The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS today operates in more than 50 countries worldwide, providing assistance to refugees and displaced people in camps, urban settings, detention centers, and other contexts of displacement. Jesuit Refugee Service Bosnia and Herzegovina (JRS BiH), a non-profit humanitarian organization, is seeking to recruit a Psychologist to support migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers within activities implemented in the Una-Sana Canton, with a particular focus on psychological support provided in Temporary Reception Centers.

Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Hold a university degree in Psychology or a related field in social or behavioral sciences
- Have relevant experience in psychological counseling, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), or similar positions
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, vulnerable populations, or trauma survivorswill be considered an asset
- Have a very good command of the English language
- Understand the role of a faith-based organization in humanitarian work and ensure its mission and values are reflected in their work
- Be willing to work with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- Have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Be willing to engage in dynamic and challenging field work
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy, and professional integrity
- Possession of a valid Category B driving license is desirable
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
The Psychologist is responsible for providing psychological support and mental health services to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, particularly those accommodated in Temporary Reception Centers in the Una-Sana Canton. The position requires close cooperation with JRS staff, partner organizations, and relevant institutions to ensure adequate psychological support and protection for vulnerable beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing individual psychological counseling and emotional support to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers accommodated in Temporary Reception Centers
- Identifying individuals experiencing psychological distress, trauma, or other mental health challenges and providing appropriate support
- Conducting psychosocial assessments and contributing to individual support plans
- Organizing group sessions and psychoeducational activities aimed at strengthening resilience and coping mechanisms
- Referring beneficiaries to specialized mental health or medical services when necessary
- Maintaining confidential case documentation and preparing regular activity reports
- Participating in case discussions and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Cooperating with JRS staff, partner organizations, and relevant institutions to ensure coordinated support for beneficiaries
- Supporting outreach and awareness activities related to mental health and psychosocial well-being in the centers
- Reporting to the Project Coordinator and subsequently to the Country Manager
