  • Hello friends,
    I am working with children from unfortunate and disadvantaged backgrounds in various schools in Uganda. A lot is desired because they are malnourished due to neglection, no fees, no clothing and girls are not able even to manage their menstrual times. I am therefore wanting such support towards these youngsters who are the hope of tomorrow! I have involved them in crafts making as a way of building their skills, self esteem and self image as they can make things on their own and sell them to earn a little living. This is not enough even to cater for their fees and clothing.
    We call upon you out there to stand with these children.

    Communities live of subsistence agriculture and fishing. A single mother heads most families. There is a constant struggle to support their family members financially. Because of lack of financial resources, kids often do not go to school.
    Problem statement
    It only rains in Cape Verde islands three to four months out of the whole year. Since Cape Verdean rural communities depend of subsistence farming, this tendency contributes for the community to suffer. There is extreme poverty among women; there is a very low standard living, and high unemployment rate among women and young group of people. This has been due to a lack of government intervention to develop an agriculture projects that can generate wealth and create jobs. Conventional agriculture is not profitable; it does not create jobs and adds no values to the product. There is no sustainable industries directed to agribusiness. There are no adequate economic, financial and technological assets.
    Need statement
    There is a need for a revitalization of the local economy through the development of a sustainable agricultural production that supports a population of approximately 28,000. By using modern irrigation technology to save water. By betting on agribusiness to transform and preserve products. By developing a business of agricultural production, that includes agrichemicals, breeding, crop production, distribution, farm machinery, processing, seed supply, marketing and sales. There is a need to have modern agriculture machinery and supporting infrastructure such as transformation facility to enhancing the competitiveness of communities.
    There are some small-protected forest areas on the islands, where communities are cutting down trees for their daily basic use. The lack of government’s intervention to develop sustainable agriculture, forestry and land protection, or projects that can generate wealth and create jobs, contributes for the land depletion and deforestation.
    Who is affected by the problem?
    The farmers constitute about 80% of the economically active population of the community of some 28,000 inhabitants. They are affected by the inadequate productivity of the agricultural activity and lack of government policy for the agriculture segment. About 85% of these inhabitants has only primary school level of education, and poses no special skills that enables them to get a good paying job. Mostly women represent householders.
    Project objectives (goals that project needs to achieve)
    Our Primary objective is to create jobs leading to enhance the community competitiveness and empowerment. To provide means that women head of household can be self-sufficient. To alleviate poverty in rural communities. To provide means for women to improve themselves economically and socially. To provide access to basic needs such as food, water, heath care, education, etc.
    This project’s aim is to have an agricultural business operation that includes, crop production and distribution, by using modern farm machineries. Aided by a processing facility to can and transform products, supplemented by cattle breeding. Able to produce, milk, cheese, meat and it derivatives. The project will create a brand name product that can be sold locally and regionally or exported.
    It includes a supporting infrastructure well equipped for transformation of products.
    Our goals are: To ensure socioeconomic benefits for disadvantaged small-scale farmers;
    To create jobs for local communities;
    To empower families:
    To eliminate hunger in rural areas;
    To alleviate poverty in rural communities;
    To maintain high levels of economic growth and employment.
    To provide training to improve skills for livelihoods;
    To promote community-based innovation, capacity development, and empowerment through sustainable development projects.

    Summary sentence
    The project aims to improve the community farmers’ living standards in the Norte area of the city of Sao Filipe, and, benefit indirectly the entire island of Fogo. It will help reduce unemployment rate, juvenile delinquency, extreme poverty, school dropouts, etc. This can be achieved by investing in modern farm techniques and machinery, building local processing facilities, installation new irrigation systems, providing job training in agriculture, canning and products processing. Small-scale agriculture and animal husbandry provide a vital safety net for the disadvantaged groups in Cape Verde Islands, as it is a source of employment for many poor families.

    We are a non-profit community association, focused on artisanal fishing and located in Ponta Verde, Fogo, Cape Verde Islands. Our organization works to improve the living conditions of the communities, especially the living conditions of women and children.
    We are made up of 50 members, but we work with the entire northern population of about 28,000. We mobilize financial resources and donations by collaborating with other national or foreign organizations.
    Cape Verde are 10 islands located in west side of Africa. It is a country surrounded by the ocean with very limited resources.
    Small-scale fisheries make an important contribution to nutrition, food security, sustainable livelihoods and poverty alleviation, for Cape Verdean communities.

    Faced with the bad agricultural year, high unemployment rate, poverty and lack of sustainable interventions, we anticipate that many families will adopt less adequate practices to earn a living. We anticipate the degradation of beaches and coastal by gathering sand and basalt for construction will be consequences of these practices.
    Endangered species such as the caretta caretta turtles, its eggs and other birds will be caught to consumption, and its habitat destroyed. Yet, we expect deforestation and land degradation.

    For these and other reasons, we, as NGOs, are requesting the collaboration to implement a sustainable fisheries project here on Fogo Island, which can create jobs for communities and protect the environment marine animals, land, beaches, coastal areas, and the species in general.
    Building partnerships are key to progress and success to promote and effectively implement sustainable fisheries and protection of ocean, ecosystem and species.
    Proper monitoring of marine, beaches, coastal and water ecosystems, including habitats and resources, is imperative for ensuring sustainable fisheries.
    We urge effective monitoring of overfishing, illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive fishing practices in order to promote sustainable livelihoods for coastal fishing communities.
    The recognition and support to small-scale fisheries and aquaculture development depend on the enhancement of the conservation and sustainable use of oceans and their resources by implementing monitoring local stations to help enforcing existing laws.
    Further, to promote awareness and action towards their achievement and implement science-based management plans, in order to restore fish stocks.
    About our organization, I would like to inform that it was created in October of 2010. We have been struggling to find partners to finance projects. Here through local government is even more difficult to secure financial support.
    Our work is on the voluntary basis. None of our members earns any salary or compensation.
    So, please collaborate with us and support our cause.
    Best regards.

    PRO-PESCA, Association of Fishermen and Fishmongers of North, Fogo Island.

  • Greetings in Jesus name,
    Thank you so much for your website we know that you have a lot of work because you are a leader of many people you should face some challenges, please consider our prayer request as a pastor i write these to put in your hearts and have compassion to us and us.
    Brothers and sisters here are well in the gospel of Jesus Christ, we except we have a lot of challenges here we are now, people are dying like flies,
    , Where more people died during general elections and many died of HIV/AIDS. In the year 2007 leaving behind their loved children under great problems, none careless .Many of these children were rooming here and there seeking for any kind of help, poor children1, as they were eating drown to the bits so called remains and wastes to satisfy their body and wearing some rags to cover their bodies as their homes and rental house were burned and parents were killed.
    As the bibles says that a good church is the one which looks for the orphans and widows for their problems James 1;27, we came in helping them for the little offerings we collect from the church, It became a great task because many are poor and unemployed ,
    So the orphanage was established in the year 2007, under my leadership and my brothers and sisters who are in Church, It is challenging that these children need daily basic needs like food, shelter, cloth and education of which my fellowship is learning with many poverty is an history in their lives as the area has poor climatic conditions, no food is grown.
    This orphanage has no donors at all, as I hope before the of our spiritual father Lancer, we all say from to you sorry and we shall meet one day with them in Heaven and we shall rejoice with our beloved ones, no more tears again, we shall be called sons and daughters of the most high God.
    The orphanage consists of boys and girls in Number now there are 27, boys 13 and girls 14 in number, They are many who are now dying and are being buried sides of the Road because of Hunger , no shelter and no food, Whatever you put on your tables remember these orphans that they have nothing to eat and the eye of the Lord God looks upon!

    Sometimes these children they sleep without food and drink black tea in other words boiled water plus tea leaves and sugar. Now we beg you to assist where you can, May Heavenly Father bless you all, keep the faith and let heaven be ours and let our minds and hand join together for God’s work in Jesus name. You are all most welcome to Kenya.
    Yours Faithfully,
    Pastor Charles Okiari

Their desire is to join Vocational training institutes to be trained in different disciplines like tailoring, hairdressing, catering and many others which would help them become self reliant. These mothers have babies too of ages between 4months to 1 year old. We are therefore seeking for financial support from any donor organisation to help give these girls a second chance to able them cater for themselves and their babies.

  • Dear friends,
    My name is Mulusew, Program officer for Youth Livelihood community based Skill Training project at Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus -Development And Social Service Commission, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our organization has long year work experience in working in the areas of empowering poor and less privileged youths so as to enable them become self help citizen through attaching them in various private manufacturing enterprises to learn on job skill training for short term for some months.
    The challenge is very pressing and deep that the commission couldn’t address the entire youth unemployment problem. The commission supports only 240 youths annually operating two projects where as the number of children affected by the unemployment problem is uncountable. The commission would like to reach more poor youths who are suffering from lack of skill training that paves employment opportunity.
    Finally, how would it be possible to contact you and submit our concept paper?

    Dear Sr/Madam,

    We the members of THE HERITAGE INITIATIVE GROUP stands before you with heavy heart requesting for your organization to partner with THE HERITAGE INITIATIVE GROUP in alleviating the sufferings of Southern Cameroonians that have been trapped by war between the military and the separatist fighters. Children have not attended school for over three years and there is an urgent humanitarian assistance needed in these regions. Investing in this vulnerable population will be priority for humanity, so your help is very important.

    I have been authorized by the board of Directors of THE HERITAGE INITIATIVE GROUP, which is a registered Non Governmental Organization in Cameroon to apply for partnership and assistance agreement with your organisation so that we can work together to provide immediate foods for suffering population in South West and North West Regions of Cameroon and long term goals in the attainment of the UN 2030 sustainable development goals on climate change, food security and poverty eradication the war regions of South-West and North West Regions of Cameroon, Africa. People in these regions need your financial and moral assistance enabling them to live like human beings.

    We need assistance from your organization in the cultivation, harvesting and processing of cassava tubers into garri flour that is widely consumed by the local population in Cameroon. We invest in the planting of teak trees within South West Region of Cameroon that will reduce greenhouse gas emission which is a threat to global warming. Scientists have predicted that if carbon dioxide gas emission is not controlled; global temperature could rise to 4-5 degree centigrade within a century, which would be a calamity and catastrophe to the environment and humanity.

    A teak tree does not grow naturally in African forest. We have studied the a forestation of the teak trees that were planted in Tiko, Mutengene, Limbe, Ekona, Kumba, Mamfe etc by the Germans from 1907-1913 but were destroyed by the local population and used as firewood. The seeds of these teak trees were brought from India and planted in Cameroon. A teak tree needs special composite manure and care for it to survive in Cameroon.

    We are going to educate the local population on the conservation of these teak trees, the economic benefits and the fight against climate change. Others may emulate from us.

    Our aims are about protecting our natural environment, feeding our local communities rather than corporate profits. We have dedicated experts in the fight against hunger, poverty and the challenges of sustainable development in Cameroon. We are looking forward in acquiring food grade stainless steel mechanization plants, so that we can ensure food security, tackle unemployment and improve on the economic and social lives of our communities.

    Please find below information concerning the present geopolitical situation in Cameroon.

    We are looking forward to hearing from you so that we can discuss more regarding our projects.

    Thank you for your time and consideration,

    We have a strong focus on primary education as well as girl child education. We believe that there is no better way to pull a child out of a life of poverty than through education. We started and maintained a permanent and recognized school classes from kinder garden to 10th Std. to provide free and promote an educational standard of the poor children living in the remote rural areas.

    Second main objective is to build the capacity of the poor and less privileged women (Dalits, Gypsies, Sri Lankan refugees and widows) in order to enable them to cross all social and economic barriers. We work for the social and economic development of the people by providing whatever practical help they need in the form of information, advice, capacity building, training and support. These include training in Education, Health, Leadership, Accounts, Documentation, Livelihoods activities, SHGs formation etc.

    In the absence of adequate medical facilities in the villages, the medical camps organized by us not only provide adequate medical care and attention but also provides constant health monitoring. The aim of the medical camps are to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas through standalone camps.

    We are periodically doing awareness programs in various subjects through rallies, street plays and visual Medias. Relief and rehabilitation works also being done. As requested raised by the refugees, we are extending our works to the Sri Lankan Tamils living in the refugee camps ovr 30 years in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai District.

    All the works are being carried out with the help of our local supporters. Now in existence for over 20 years, GREAT Trust continues to strive to expand its programs and services to the community to the next level. To meet up the existing necessity and execute our future plans, we are looking out for opportunities to support our sustainability programmes by partnership / funding / volunteer support.

    GREAT TRUST can achieve its goals with the assistance of generous contributions from you.
    We would like to hear from you to send details / project proposal for your kind consideration.
    If we have found your cooperation, we will ensure that our works will transform the standard of living for the target group of our community.

  • Dear sir/madam,
    I am glad to your work. I feel our activity is causing impact to fit well with the choices of assistance and request to express an inquiry for assistance.
    We started in 2015 by ideating that faecal and organic garbage undergo constructive elimination than normal elimination that disposal of sanitation byproducts to different areas thereby could be absolutely consumed in infertility soils to rehabilitate the structure. when human excrement is put to productive use with reduced negative perception then the other contributive organic garbage are simpler to handle.
    By 2017 a solution came to reality with faecal sludge fertilizer pellets processed as product in market. This has gone ahead to survive without equipment and so far 1.5tonnes is sold annually.
    From sales and savings and further research, a social enterprise has been registered in Uganda as Sanitation Empowerment&Agricultural Support(SEAS)Ltd which aims to link sanitation into business by processing faecal blended with organic garbage into fertilizer pellets as a pathway for constructive elimination of the unwanted resources currently poorly disposed of everywhere into the public space.
    From the above background, Sanitation Empowerment & Agricultural Support (SEAS)Ltd seeks to work hand in hand with your organizations that consider dignifying human life while minimizing wasteful practices of naturally occurring resources meanwhile placing burden on nonrenewable resources.
    I hereby request to learn how SEAS may part of you and eligibility criteria. I remain ready to furnish you with more detail when required in innovation on human excreta and garbage into sellable products in Uganda.

    I’ll be glad if favored with response

    Thank you!

    Hello, greetings to you,
    Girls In Red (GIRO) is a women led and was founded by 5 young women and 2 men who grew up in the same communities. “Survival for the fittest” is a common saying in the wildlife, but we fit the tittle survivors. Therefore, permit me to share with you our story and our organization “Girls In Red” (GIRO).
    We were born in neighboring communities of Kamuli district Eastern Uganda Busoga Sub-region. We grew up in highly polygamous homes with numerous mistresses and uncountable children. These families at no single occasion had less than 20 people in makeshift houses. Single meals a day highly unbalanced or no meals were normal as longer as the dads ate. Going half naked, no beddings, no mosquito nets, no shoes, no basic needs did we ever leave to see in our childhood. Hopelessness and groom were our daily portion as it appeared our families had no clear-cut plan.
    We grew up knowing women/girls had no special place in our community other than cooking, washing men’s clothes, fetching water at times from far away in bushes and collecting firewood and producing. Many times, our mothers were left alone with us, as our daddies run after other women. We also grew up seeing our mothers being bartered/thoroughly beaten; at will by our daddies. Many times, we saw our mummies nursing big wounds. The mother’s and the children did the donkey’s work and the reward went to the fathers, what a shame to many African men.
    Child abuse and children’s rights are terms we knew after school. There was nothing of the sort in our homes. Scars all over bodies are there to tell a painful story. All items near our daddies were used to administer excruciating pain/unnecessary beating to us. Barbed wires, saucepans, stones, bricks, chains, iron bars, let alone slapping and boxing us like we were in about but for us pinned in a corner and you can’t defend yourself. Always daddies were right. Girls were by clan traditions/ culture deemed properties of the daddies to sold off as soon as the first monthly periods are reported. They were sources of income to the pocket of the dad. What made matters worse was, part of the same dowry price, would be used to pay dowry for another wife for the dad. Child molestation is very common in our homes targeting the girl children. Many of our young sisters were sold off so young and some of them, are dead, enslaved, mimed or sacrificed. These pains continue to ring in heads but without any form of answer. The law always favors the elder, so there was no way a case can go against a dad who raped his daughter or uncle, cousin as it often happened to some of us and the wounds are only healing through freeing thousands of girls in our communities enduring same wickedness. In short children especially the women/girl children in the communities are totally defense less.
    Waves of human/sex trafficking in the name of jobs in UAE has affected our communities so much. Many girls went searching for green pastures have returned dead, lunatics, organs extracted, no money, many were gang raped, sodomized and many have rotten organs, with fistula. Human sacrifice is very alive, as one of our daddies was arrested after handing over her innocent daughter to a witch doctor to do black magic to get rich. Her torso was recovered without a head, no private parts, no breasts, tracing backwards the dad and uncles did it.
    Our education was a miracle from God, walking over 7Km back and forth, these are 14km a day. Bushes, sugar plantations, no shoes, no food, no school uniform but rags. One occasion our older sister was raped by three bigger youths, after doing their thing, they beat us up warning us that if we reported them, they would still rape her again and kill us. It a catholic priest Fr, Wynand who helped us to complete school.
    After seeing all these evils done to us, we promised ourselves to start an organization to defend these girls in “red” situation and children rights at large. So far, we have a primary school and an orphanage of 375 children.
    We are therefore reaching you seeking any forms of collaboration, partnership. research or guidance on how to help both the survivors/orphans that continue to knock at our homes and the vulnerable girls/young men. We are fighting and advocating for end of all forms of child abuse, FGM, Early marriages, GBV and DV. We started a primary school, a vocational school/orphanage for retention of girls in school. We empower girls/women through farming and other economic activities, Retention of girls In school, etc.
